Amber Stanhope

Image
"Amber Stanhope also shares the same birthday with Ellowyne. They refer to themselves as frienemies. Their fathers work at the same San Francisco architectural firm. Amber is jealous of Ellowyne and occasionally does things to undermine her or get her into trouble." The last doll to complete my Ellowyne Wilde collection arrived today and she's a stunner. Amber wasn't an easy doll to find . . . well certainly not in my price range. After weeks of searching, my persistence paid off in the end and I was really happy she wasn't too far away. She was waiting for me just across the Tasman Sea in New Zealand.  The only hiccup was with her shoes. Unfortunately they were not packed separately, but left on the doll and were subsequently damaged in transit. Luckily the sender offered to reimburse me for the damage. I removed the sash from Amber along with her wrist tag and left them in her box with her certificate. I will attempt to repair the shoes, but I'm not confide

Mortimer Mort

Image
"While working for his uncle Mr. Mort in the morgue, Mortimer constantly dreams of a different life. He's not sure what that entails, but he's secretly convinced it might include his uncle's assistant, Evangeline. Extremely shy, he keeps his feelings for her hidden. maybe one day he and Evangeline will leave Ipswich to start a new life together. Will it ever happen? Will Mortimer find the courage to ask her out for a date? Will Evangeline one day find the perfect black dress? Who knows . . . for the moment he continues to hide his love for her and continues his training in the morgue, in the hopes that one day he will be the best undertaker Ipswich has ever known." I was so lucky to find this guy at all, let alone find him in my own state . . . and in mint condition! Very few Mortimer's become available in the marketplace, possibly because very few were produced and when they do they are usually very expensive. He arrived complete and untouched, it was as if h

Amelia Whistle-Wickham Ghastly

Image
"Apparitions have never been as fashionable as Evangeline’s ghostly great-great grandmother, Amelia Whistle-Wickham Ghastly. Her hair is a subdued blend of lavender and silver, stylishly pulled back with a blue faux floral décor which matches the trim along her waist of her gown and complements her alabaster skin.  Amelia's big grey eyes offset the grey shantung bodice, the crinkle chiffon and sequin lace of her ethereal gown overlay. Matching satin shoes ensure that she is a true vision to behold!  The dearly departed doppelganger has returned and is on a mission to help Evangeline. " She is so devilishly delightful, extremely hard to come by and a doll which I have no doubt, will find it's way to my abode someday. Hopefully, sooner rather than later! TONNER STOCK PHOTO Amelia Whistle-Wickham Ghastly is a limited edition of 225 pieces, retailing for US$225.00.

Rufus Rutter

Image
"A friend of Ellowyne’s since seventh grade, Rufus is the handyman at the Victorian house where Ellowyne lives with her grandmother. Always cheerful and a little shy, Rufus harbors an unrequited love for Ellowyne. Will he ever have the courage to confess?" "Rufus attends college with Ellowyne and Prudence. He received a scholarship and is working to pay his living expenses. He's got very close set eyes and a very large nose. Odd looking to say the least. Ellowyne likes Rufus as a friend, at least that's what she says." I wasn't sure whether I would purchase a Rufus Rutter doll, he's not the most handsomest of dolls after all. However, I think this guy has some potential! Of course I will need to find one within my price range first. There have been others who have also seen his potential, as you can read in this short excerpt from an article, “Rufus’s Daydream,” which appeared in the Autumn 2015 edition of FDQ, "He spent a lot of time lying on

Ellowyne's Transformation

Image
Ellowyne just didn’t know what to think. She was coming back and hadn’t seen her dear friends in ever so long. What should she wear to make a good impression? She knows she’s changed . . . would they even recognize her? “Well,” she thought “I just won’t think about that now.” She set to work to pull together her outfit. The dress was easy. She had this wonderful khaki ruffle dress with matching lace pieced together . . . it was full and comfortable and she could wear it off the shoulder if she wanted. At the same shop she had purchased another dress made out of fabric she loved but she didn’t so much love the style. With the a few snips of the scissors and a little work with the sewing machine, she made a full petticoat and a matching tie belt. She put the dress on and immediately decided it was perfect. Well, that was easier than she thought it would be. Matching stockings and boots are just the right thing. Oh! Mothers handmade glass bead necklace and bracelet to top it off

Welcome

When I purchased my first Robert Tonner Wilde Imagination doll - Angelique De La Nuit back in August, I never thought it would lead to the arrival of several more. Up until then, I had always favoured smaller dolls, mostly because of space. The few larger play dolls, which I had gathered in my early years, soon found themselves being packed in boxes and shipped off to new homes. I had to make room for the two new families that had begun to arrive. Even though these dolls were beautiful and very elegantly dressed, I knew I wouldn't be content by simply looking at them. Nor was I happy to be constrained by Tonner's stories, my dolls needed to tell their own tales. I hope you will join me as they write each chapter . . . only to unfold as each page is turned . . .
